Bepoke Installations

Project: ‘Out of Sight, Out of Mind’, Grand Designs Live, NEC Birmingham

Materials: collected marine litter [fishing rope, plastic bags, packaging], recycled vinyls, recycled blister packs, decommissioned bank notes.

The shapes chosen for the installation were based around the letter ‘O’ for the ocean, also as the shape gives minimal waste, all offcuts were re-used back into the sheet making process leaving extremely little offcuts overall from the last sheets made.

The title of the piece comes from thoughts about how we need to act on this pressing plastics problem when it is all too easily put out of our minds by not being seen.

Plastics is a wonderful material and if we all respect it, value it, it will not be discarded, littered, rather collected, reused in a circular economy for years.
